Pay:                                Volunteer positions available or $20-$30/hr. DOE

Work Status:                  Part-time; 5-10 hours per week

Open Minds, Silicon Valley is a leader in inclusion and accessibility working with public, private, nonpublic schools and businesses around the SF Bay Area and beyond. Open Minds, Silicon Valley operates Open Mind School, a small k-12 nonprofit pilot model school in Menlo Park. Our world-class team of educators, entrepreneurs, and specialized service providers are working together to use data analytics to make informed decision making on school learning environments. Position Summary

​

Open Mind School is a nonprofit 501(C) 3 inclusive school with small classrooms, comprehensive curriculum, innovative technology, and a big emphasis on brain and body connection work. We are devoted to creating a motivating and appropriate environment where students can make meaningful gains in cognitive, physical, social, and developmental domains. We apply the most recent research when adapting and modifying activities and materials for different learners.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • ​Create an effective marketing strategy that includes collaborating with local agencies, using social media and correspondence to highlight a specific program

  • Develop, prepare and produce brochures, e-mails, or flyers for specific program advertising

  • Oversee the regular maintenance of social media to highlight programming updates and photos

  • Effectively circulate information on Open Mind School events (ie. open house, tour, etc.), programs (i.e. social skills group, tutoring, after school care, open gym, etc.), projects around campus (ie. ninja warrior course build out, deck creation, vocational programs in action, guest teachers on campus, etc). 

  • Participate in community outreach events like job fairs, information booths, and resource centers.

Qualifications

​

  • Degree or equivalent years of experience in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Psychology, or a related field

  • Proficiency in social media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Wix, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.)

  • Ability to independently initiate projects and activities

  • Must have professional customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Attentive to details

  • Dedication, motivation, and commitment to the job at hand

ADA Specifications

​

This position is largely sedentary in nature. However, one must possess the ability to speak, hear, write, use a computer and related software programs, and lift up to 20 lbs. Ongoing local and/or national travel periodically required.
